The First Peoples
In todays class we learnt about the First People, their territories and languages. They had "6 Cultural Areas" they were Arctic, Subarctic, Northwest Coast, Plateau, Great Plains/Prairie, Northeastern Woodlands. Those who lived in the same geographic regions would often share cultural elements. They had 50 major languages and 12 distinct language families. The 5 langauge groups were Cree, Dakota, Ojibwe, Oji-Cree, Dene.

good ideas stevo you have good information about the territories and languages. but you could use alittle more details you could talk about how they are similar in different regions and how they are different in others. you also could put a picture in because that gives people and idea on the sizes of regions and makes it much easier to picture it in your mind. but other than that I can kinda get a understanding of what happened in class from your post :)
ReplyDeleteThis post was very straightforward and made me aware of all the regions and language groups in Canada. You made it simple and easy to understand what we learned in class. I thought that it was cool that the geographic regions share cultural elements and it made me wonder what other similarities the people living in these regions share and if it is a whole lot different from the cultures featured in other regions... I would have to agree with Mark, though. A picture would help to inform us of where the regions and groups were situated and would give us the general sizes of each of them. Otherwise, it was a very informative post. If you were wondering about the different cultures within each geographic region, this Youtube video gives a very good description of each in the first couple of minutes.
