The Winnipeg General Strike
The Winnipeg General Strike was a very significant time in Winnipeg history.
First I must explain why this strike occurred in the first place. The year is 1919 a year after the end of World War 1. The war is over, there is no demand for guns or cannon or bullets so factories lay off worker. Workers end up in dead-end jobs, terrible working conditions, poverty or deplorable living conditions. Small housing and very little possessions. Rebellion seems the only way for this to change.
The strike begins May 15 1919 30,00 workers leave their workplaces and joins the crowd. Fueled by the success of the Russian Revolution and the creation of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republic(USSR) or Soviet Union lead fears of the same movement occurring in Canada what originally was a peaceful strike would have deadly results because of police intervention.
People armed with chair-legs were called "Special police" and RCMP personnel would have a fierce stand-off with rioters. The famous Bloody Saturday on June 10 RCMP personnel and special police entered the crowds swinging bats, beating people. 35 to 45 people were injured and two deaths Mike Sokowolski(Bystander, shot in the heart) Mike Schezerbanowicz (Shot in the leg, Died of Gangrene infection.). This lead to 4 European immigrants being rounded up and deported(One voluntarily to the U.S and one to Eastern Europe.). This lead to martial-law being declared in Winnipeg and 11:00 a.m June 25 the strike was over.
This strike was monumental in history. Later the laws and rights that protestors were demanding for became law. Labor Unions became legal and everything we have today as workers was because of the Winnipeg General Strike.

hey Dustin I think your did good on the log but I have some suggestions on things you could add do maybe get you a few more marks or get you over the word count if you didn't make it. For starters here you didn't mention anything about consequences about the Winnipeg general strike. One for the consequences you could've added where that all of these people who got injured while on strike were afraid of going to the doctors because they were thinking that the doctor would diagnose there injuries when they were on strike and tell the police in turn getting them either sentenced to jail or getting deported. Another point you could've made inconsequence's where that a lot of the police where fired from there jobs even though they did there jobs and kept the peace, I'm not 100% certain that this is true so don't quote me on it but in pretty sure this happened. You did a pretty good job on the rest often information that you have and with the numbers there wren more precise then my blog. I cant find much I could've added to your blog when comparing it to mine besides just adding more words for those extra few marks other than that you did a good job.
