In Todays News November Post
In todays news we learned about the Winnipeg general strike it was one of the most famous strikes ever. The soldiers were coming home and they weren't able to get their jobs back and peoples hours were irregular and work was irregular aswell. This was honestly one of the most significant strikes because of how because of it it ended irregular work and people were able to get their jobs. During this strike there were two casualties, one who died on the street where the strike was taking place and one who died later after, there were also a lot of people injured from the police and military people. I personally think there shouldn’t have been people injured, but the people were frustrated and the police had to stop them from getting rowdy. There’s a lot of stuff that could’ve happened instead of people getting injured, but they weren’t calming down because of the unfairness, and there was a lot of people that went on strike. There was a total of 30 000 people who did like that is a lot. There were quite some consequences that followed the strike, there were four immigrants who were arrested and deported and they wouldn’t have been if they would have just minded their own business even thoough it was huge at the time. Finally on June 25 1919 the strike was officially called off and the strikers went back to work, while the 8 strike leaders were arrested. This strike was proven to be the largest strike in Canada history and the largest in North America like wow! There was also a role of woman in this strike, as they would only be watching, and trying their best to end it and would get called “scabs”. There were also woman who were in the strike and when ever someone did something to keep the strike going the “scabs” would do the opposite to repair or fix whatever they did because they didn’t want the strike.
